Death-Scort Service is a horror film directed by Sean Donohue and co-written by Donohue and Chris Woods, who also worked on Satan Lives! The Rise of the Illuminati Hotties Donohue has an extensive history of B-Horror releases, and this one is no exception. It has gratuitous nudity, violence, and some cheesy practical effect gore.
Production notes:
Plot: A deranged slasher calls the escort service to set up dates with the women, only to kill them in disturbing ways.
Cast: Krystal Pixie Adams, Amethist Young, Bailey Paige, Cayt Feinics, and Bob Glazier
Production: Filmed in eight days with an estimated budget of about $1,500
Death-Scort Service is pretty much exactly what you would expect by the name alone. There isn't much that needs to be explored here in the writing category, but it gets interesting toward the end and makes up for the lack of substance early on. The film takes place in Las Vegas. Girls take jobs from Johns, they get murdered in cheesy, brutal fashion, and this repeats pretty much for the duration of the film. There is a lot of nudity, and some of the actresses are probably also strippers who might be acting just for fun, but that just adds to the overall charm of this film.
The kills were all entertaining. The killer was using unique items and ways of killing the prostitutes. One even had a breast chopped off, which isn't something you see all the time in films. The gore was all practical, which we love, and even though it was cheesy, it was done right. Absolutely loved this.
Having been filmed in such a short amount of time and on an estimated budget of only $1500, this might be the best indie horror film we have seen with the resources available. It wasn't groundbreaking by any means, but the production wasn't that bad overall. We have seen worse with much larger budgets. The effort put into the kills and practical effects was better than a lot of other indie productions. Even the score and cinematography were pretty decent.
Overall, Death-Scort Service is a fantastic indie horror slasher. The final product is a testament to how much can be done with the right team and dedication to making a quality horror film, regardless of the resources available. It definitely has the atmosphere of a low-budget slasher, but in the end, that is pretty much what we expected going in, and it exceeded our expectations. There were also a couple of sequels to this film: Death-Scort Service Part 2: The Naked Dead, and Taste Me: Death-Scort Service Part 3, which we will be exploring soon. If you are into slasher films with a lot of nudity that don't hold back, definitely give this a watch. You won't be disappointed.
