Here for Blood

Here for Blood is an independent horror film written by James Roberts and directed by Daniel Turres. It stars Shawn Roberts (Land of the Dead, X-Men, Diary of the Dead) as Tom, a wrestler. Tom agrees to help his girlfriend babysit for a couple of hours so she can study, but then things take an unexpected turn shortly into his babysitting gig when the house is attacked by assailants. Maya Misaljevic (The Boys) plays the role of Grace who is the child Tom has agreed to watch, and the assailants are trying to capture her. Tom fights them with many different methods ranging from wrestling moves to whatever weapons happen to be near him in an attempt to defend Grace.

While Here for Blood wasn't breaking a lot of new ground here, there are a lot of qualities to like in this film. The production was great. There was some nice practical effect gore and plenty of it. The acting was surprisingly good, and even though it wasn't perfect, it was enjoyable. The fight scenes were cheesy but in a good way. There is a lot of stabbing. We were hoping for a lot more on the wrestling side of things, but there was one elbow-drop scene that was pretty awesome.

Overall, we really enjoyed Here for Blood. It has a lot of charm to it while still sticking to classic horror elements and bringing the practical effect gore. The story takes an unexpected turn that we thought was nice, and manages to pack a lot in there. We would definitely recommend this to fans of horror comedies, wrestling, indie horror, or anyone who just wants to watch some cheesy, gory fun.

Here for Blood releases on Friday, February 9th! So make sure to check it out in select theaters, digital, and on SCREAMBOX!
